Hey all! Sorry for the quietness in Emma-land recently. I'm back into head-down mode on my current projects, so - though I'll be surfacing from time to time, you will get a lot of radio silence for me for a little while, I'm afraid.

Coming up this weekend is the amazing Electric Picnic event - where the Leviathan stage schedule has now been released. The Big Comics Chat will take place at 17:30 on Saturday evening. John Byrne will be hosting the fun as Pat Mills, Steve Bell, Dr Mel Gibson, Phil Barrett and myself talk comics and beyond!

Also in news this week, you can check out my Manga Studio User Story at Smith Micro's official site. I love Manga Studio with a passion - so was very happy to do the piece for them. ^_^

And, not only that, but I'm in the company of some pretty awe-inspiring people! I can't wait - hope to see some familiar faces there ^_^

San Diego Comic Con - news from me! ^_^

Okay, so – though I wasn’t at San Diego Comic Con in person, I was there in spirit in the form of some very exciting announcements that I’ve been wanting to share for a long time.

Firstly, I will be working with writers Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir, and the lovely folks at Oni Press, on the series - Avalon Chronicles. Hugely exciting! Nunzio and Christina are just wonderful, and I’m so honoured to not only be drawing their epic, but also to be allowed to join in on some of the story creation! I can’t wait to share some of the cast and progress work with you. For now, you can check N & C’s blog for more details, and I can offer up the sample preview I put together for San Diego’s announcement at the Oni panel.
Aaand - Richelle Mead is the fabulous writer responsible for the rather schmexy Vampire Academy series of novels, and I am just utterly thrilled to be the artist responsible for bringing her story to life in graphic novel form, to be published by Penguin Books. Getting to work on such a popular (and bloody awesome) series is exciting enough, but to be working for a giant like Penguin Books makes me feel very privileged. You can see Richelle’s own post at her blog, along with the cover mockup that Penguin have put together for the announcement, by clicking on the banner.

So – it’s an exciting time for me and I am more hyped than I can say! I’m already mid production on the first Avalon book, Once In a Blue Moon (a re-imagining of the same title released several years ago), and am eagerly awaiting Leigh Dragoon’s script for Vampire Academy – though I’ve played with test pages enough to know I’m going to very much enjoy these characters!

I look forward to sharing more news when I have it. ^_^

How many of you remember the TV programme Knightmare? eh? eh? haha.So, with con season seemingly winding to a close, I've taken a moment to look at the events coming up for me for the rest of the year and thought I'd share the Vieceli-trail with you.

Sept 3rd-5th - Electric Picnic - Dublin. <---this looks SO fun! The non-music stages are still being finalised, but I'll be there. More details closer to the time.
Sept 18th-19th - Paris Manga <---yay, Paris! Can't wait to see my first French event. ^_^
Oct 8th-10th - New York Comic Con <---you betcha I'm headed back there! Had a great time last year.
Oct 29-31 London MCM Expo <---as always ^_~
Nov 20th - Thought Bubble - Leeds <---Always a fun show! Can't wait.

I'll be missing the fabulous San Diego comic con next week, but do keep an eye and ear out, as two of my current projects will be getting announced, huzzah! Maybe keep your ear close to the Oni press and Penguin books booths *wink wink nudge nudge* I'll be able to reveal all after the show. ^_^

So, I hope to see you at some of the above events. Happy comicking, reading, geeking and whatever else you'll be doing on the convention trail! As for me? I'd better do some drawing....eeeek!

Greetings! I've been all over the shop recently for workshops, and have met some fab students from Sunderland down to Milton Keynes. A big hello to them all!

So, where were we in Dragon Heir? Ah yes, our team are minus their Protective Spirit, and therefore their defenses (with Protus still captive in an inknown location), the Empathic Spirit is minus his abilities and stuck to a tree, the Fighting Spirit is trying hard not to let his Dragon Spirit take over, despite having just learned that Verance is possibly stronger than anyone he's ever fought before, and our Wise Spirit, mage and Spirit Binder? Well, let's head to them first, shall we?...

Late again! Eeep. I've had a lovely couple of days showing the wonderful Amy Hadley (Fool's Gold, Madame Xanadu) around Cambridge...so much so that I'm late with this update! I'm so sorry *bow*

But it's here now! Complete with a very cut down first page - which is part of a larger double-page spread that you guys will get to experience for real in the printed version. This was the best way I had of showing it for the web version, but hopefully you get the idea!

I'm back from Middlesbrough and the first ever Nemacon. A big hello to everyone I spoke to over the weekend - what a great bunch. As a first con, Nemacon has some creases to iron, but I see the potential for a rather nice staple of the UK anime con circuit. Nice venue, nice people. ^_^

And now - Dragon Heir - where we last saw Kalm flying through the air at quite a pace! 0_O
